Book launch party

November 24, 2017

On November 11th, 2017 we celebrated the launch of my first book. It was honestly a day I had thought about for a long time. I always told myself that if this book ever got finished and published that I would throw a big party. Now anyone who knows me well would not be shocked by this. I love throwing parties! I love to celebrate the important moments in life. I think we need to focus more on the positive things of life. My mom and grandmother like(d) throwing parties too, so I learned from the best!

While I was writing the book I never let myself dream too big about this party though. I was filled with doubt and uncertainty through much of the writing process. I didn’t want to build up something in my mind that may never happen. I remember one Sunday in church the pastor talked about God’s will for our lives and that He has big dreams for us. God places things in our hearts and wants us to leave the seemingly impossible things up to Him. As a person who likes to have control over situations, this is hard for me to do. I like to have a plan and if I don’t have it I want to know the plan so I can anticipate any problems. I swear God must either laugh or face-palm (or both) at some of the conversation I have with Him. Once the book was in the publication process I began to let my heart dream about this party. I prayed about it, and everything seemed to come together so smoothly. It was surreal that it was even happening and somewhat emotional, but I could see God’s hand in all of it.

My family helped me with set up, decorating, and serving. About 60 people stopped by and 25 books were sold. For a first time author that it huge! I appreciate everyone who came out to support me! I have even had several people tell me they would have loved to have come, but couldn’t. That’s totally understandable. If you are one of these people, please remember you can still get a copy of the book in paperback or Kindle from Amazon. If you live in the Des Moines area I still have several copies to sell. Just let me know and I’ll bring one to you. They are just $10.

Here is a look back at the party that I will not soon forget.
